Altamira de los Andes Grand Reserve Malbec 2008
2008 turned out to be a great year for our Malbec Grand Reserve. This is a single vineyard selection, from grapes that come from the oldest part of our La Consulta vineyard. The vines were planted in 1947, in ground that slopes gently to the North, giving them optimal sunlight. Even though there was record rainfall in early February, we had excellent sun and temperatures for optimal ripening. The grapes were harvested by hand early on the first Saturday of April. Following fermentation, the wine was placed in new French Oak for a period of two years. It was bottled in May, 2010. Release is planned for late 2011. There are 4,500 bottles.
